The tourism sector in Indonesia is currently relied on as an alternative sector to boost the Indonesian economy because the two sectors that have been relied on, namely the industrial sector and the agricultural sector, tend to become stagnant. In its development the tourism sector in Indonesia faces various problems. The research objectives in this paper is to analyze the contribution of the tourism sector to the Indonesian economy and the problems faced by the tourism sector in Indonesia and how to solve them. The research method used is descriptive analytical and qualitative. The data collection method is a method of documentation from secondary sources. The results showed that the tourism sector's contribution to the Indonesian economy is very large in the form of its contribution to GDP, foreign exchange earnings, and employment. Meanwhile, some of the problems faced by the tourism sector in Indonesia are: overlapping regulations, lack of quality human resources, lack of publication, poor infrastructure, lack of investment, lack of attention to environmental aspects, and lack of attention to religious tourism objects. On the basis of these problems, policies are proposed to overcome these various problems, namely eliminating overlapping regulations, increasing the number of certified human resources, more detailed publications, continuing infrastructure development that supports tourism, incentives for investors in the tourism sector, and enforcing strict laws for violations committed. causing damage to the environment. For further research, research with more detailed objects is proposed.
