Proses Penerimaan Diri Terhadap Perceraian Orangtua” the Process of Self Acceptance of Parental Divorce (Sebuah Studi Kualitatif Dengan Pendekatan Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis)
This research aims to describe and understand the process of teenagers' acceptance of parental divorce. Divorce is seen as a culmination of problems and the last resort when a marriage can no longer be tenable. This research uses the qualitative methodology of phenomenology, specifically using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). It uses non-probability sampling to recruit research participants, specifically snowball sampling. Three participants were recruited with the same commonality of having parents who are divorced. The acceptance of parental divorce cannot be immediately achieved by children but requires several steps related to post-divorce stage including its psychological and social impact. This research found that parental divorce impacted the participants negatively including promoting a sense of inferiority, losing a sense of family, and promoting juvenile misdemeanor. Several factors are found to reduce the negative impact including having a competent mother figure, a reduction in parental conflict and having a supportive school environment and friends that can help to achieve acceptance of parental divorce.
