Abstract

Aging population and low birth rate have been challenges that Japan has faced for many years. In addition. part of Japanese young generation has a tendency not to engage in social contact, quit school and job or even shut themselves in their homes, which is named Hikikomori. This phenomenon is likely to become more and more serious and has many negative impacts on Japanese society. What is Hikikomori? Why do Japanese youths suffer from this phenomenon? How to unlock them from it? So in order to find answers to those questions, this study will focus on analyzing Hikikomori from facts, causes to solutions as well as predictions, aiming at providing a deeper insight into the current Japanese society under changes.
