The background of this study is the low reading ability of students in the beginning because of some problems that students are less able to combine letters despite literacy, teacher using conventional methods and strategies and not using the right media in learning had been reading. So that in this study there are three problems is the implementation of learning how to use media cards increase the ability to read the beginning of the word, how student learning outcomes in reading starters through learning by using the word card media, what are the obstacles encountered in learning to read the beginning by using the media word cards and how to cope. This research shaped classroom action research (Classroom action research) using qualitative descriptive method. The subjects were teachers and students of class I SDN Sumbergirang 2 Puri Mojokerto totaling 19 students. The study design is run through three stages: planning, execution and observation, and reflection. This study was conducted in two cycles with each cycle there are two meetings. Data collection techniques using observation sheets, test sheets and field notes. The results of the first cycle studies is, feasibility study to 73.6%, the result of student learning in the classical 73.6%, and field notes are teachers need to set a good time, and students are not familiar with the media card following study said. Results of research on the second cycle is for learning feasibility study to 93.6%, the result of student learning in the classical 89.4%, and field notes that teachers are already well on set time in learning and students are able to receive a good learning and enthusiastically. From these results it can be concluded that by using the word card media can improve the implementation of learning to improve reading ability starters Keywords: media, word cards, read the beginning

Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Picture and Picture Untuk Meningkat Hasil Belajar Pada Pembelajaran Tematik Di Sekolah Dasar

Thematic learning is an integrated learning model which used theme to connect some subjects so that could give the meaningful experience for the student.There are lot of methods can be used to teach learning. One of the entertaining learning model is Picture and Picture learning model. Picture and picture learning model is learning model used the picture as learning media .The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of learning by using the Picture and Picture learning model, the Indonesian language learning result, and the problems that appear in the learning process and the solutions. This research used the plan of the class action research (CAR), that do in two cycle, and there is three steps in each. The analysis result indicated that the implementation Picture and Picture learning model is going well. In first cycle the teacher activity reach 75,76% and the second cycle up to 85,76%, it increased 10%. The students activity in first cycle is 76,25% and the second cycle is 90%, it increased 13,75%. The implementation of Indonesian language learning score in first cycle reach 73,03 with the classical completeness 75% and in second cycle get 87,08 score with the classical completeness 91,66%. The problems in both of those cycles can be overcome well. From these results it can be concluded that by applying Picture and Picture learning model can increase result learning of environment themes in third grade of Drancang Gresik State Elementary School and give new innovation of a fun learning and making students and active to learn.

Penggunaan Media Benda Konkret Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Matematika Tentang Perkalian Yang Hasilnya Bilangan Dua Angka Pada Siswa Kelas II Sdn Benowo Iv/127 Surabaya

This research is aimed to study the using of concrete media in order to find out second grade student motivation progress and student learning achievement at Mathematics in multiplication learning process which has two digit result. Classroom Action Research design is applied in this research by using qualitative method. The subjects of the research were the teacher and 28 students of second grade in Benowo IV/127 Elementary School Surabaya. The data is collected from the observation result of the using of concrete media, such as matches sticks, candies or marbles, the result of student learning process, and test result. Furthermore, the result of the data collection is analyzed by using a descriptive qualitative analysis technique. The result of achievement score for learning activity in the class has increased. The improvement also occurred at the classical accomplishment percentage from 82,3% at the first cycle up to 91,5% at the second cycle which classified as very good category. Meanwhile, the class average score achieved 82,5% the cycle I and it increased up to 92% at the cycle II. The result of student test achieved 75% at the cycle I and it also increased up to 89,2% at the cycle II which has the same very good category. From those results, it is concluded that the using of concrete thing in Mathematics learning able to improve student learning outcomes in term of multiplication subject for two digit result at the second grade students of Benowo IV/127 Surabaya.
