Background of choosing the subject: In recent years world society including Indonesia tend to consider the use of herbal medicine - back to nature. The advantages of herbal medicine become an interesting discussion. Most information expand in society is empirical rather than scientific evidence. Thus red betel vine's benefit also becomes interesting discussion but evidence based medicine about it is very little. The purpose of this study is to know the potency of antibacterial power of ethanol extract of red betel vine (Piper crocatum) toward gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Research Methodology: This research was laboratory experimental study. The extract of red betel vine was made with standard ethanol solvent. This extract was examined in Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 35218. Experimental method is serial dilution. Result was analyzed descriptively with Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC). The examination in each bacterium was repeated 5 times. Result: The result shown that ethanol extract of red betel vine (Piper crocatum) has ability to inhibit the growth of Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and to kill it on concentration 25%. While the ability to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli (Gram negative) on 6,25% (visual observation and after has been planted in Mc Conkey media). From result repetition in 5 times, gram negative is more stable rather than gram positive. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of red betel vine (Piper crocatum) has antibacterial effect toward Gram positive and gram negative. MIC and MBC Staphylococcus aureus at 25% while for MIC and MBC Escherichia coli at 6,25%.

Persepsi Masyarakat terhadap Lembaga Keuangan Syariah

Some of elements in our society have responded the expansive development and growth of syariah banking contemptuously, moreover, among some moslems themselves.The contemptuous view of Islamic banking showed by people's trust for Syari'ah Banking has been still relatively low. It shown by the moslem participation on investment and capital movement. Indeed, some of moslem intellectuals have criticized syariah banking, they considered of the transactions done by Islamic bankings, even, in contrary with its own-concept. In other words, it's in compatible with syari'ah spirit. The contemptuous view can't be separated from capitalism economic that's been deeply rooted in our society. Learning the problem surrounding syari'ah finance institution and some of its positive value, it's urgently required for this institution to improve its profesionality, in order to arise its image, next in future it hopefully able to spread wider merciful benefit . The effort increasing profesionality have to more attention of the relationship between syari'ah finance institution and consumers, a commitment of continuous inovation and also a balanced consideration of decision maker research. Operationally, profesionality improvement of syari'ah finance institution able to apply the Criteria Grade of Syariah banking Choice in Yogyakarta as its measurement.Key words: Persepsi, Pandangan, Lembaga Keuangan Syari'ah, Profesionalitas

Kajian Potensi Pemanfaatan Sampah Organik Pasar Berdasarkan Karakteristiknya (Studi Kasus Pasar Segiri Kota Samarinda)

Pasar tradisional merupakan salah satu sumber penghasil sampah yang cukup besar sehingga perlu dilakukan kajian untuk mengetahui potensi pemanfaatannya termasuk di Pasar Segiri Samarinda. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teknik sampling sampah sesuai SNI Persampahan 19-3964-1995 yang dilakukan selama 8 hari berturut turut untuk mengetahui timbulan dan komposisi sampah pada 33 los pedagang. Responden sebanyak 50 pedagang pasar untuk mengetahui potensi keterlibatan pedagang dalam pengelolaan sampah pasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa timbulan sampah yang dihasilkan sebesar 5,94 m 3 /hari dengan potensi terbesar berasal dari sampah organik yang mudah terurai yaitu 78, 26%. Berdasarkan neraca kesetimbangan massa sampah dengan memperhatikan nilai recovery sampah maka residu yang dihasilkan untuk dibuang ke TPA sebesar 278,09 kg/hari. Peran serta pedagang dalam pengelolaan sampah pasar masih rendah sebatas pewadahan sampah tanpa melakukan pemilahan.
