Abstract

Improving women's knowledge on dengue eradication programs: a result of university-community group partnership one-day training in Central JakartaPurpose: The purpose of the activity is to provide counseling the housewife in Serdang, Kemayoran sub-district, about independent larva monitoring officer as an effort to improve the knowledge of the community and the next is expected to be the independent larva monitoring officer in their households. Methods: The number of target activities is 28 housewives in Serdang, Kemayoran sub-district. After the counseling, participants' knowledge is expected to increase above 70%. Presentation materials are delivered in the form of drawings. Extension activities interspersed with ice breaking to refresh the atmosphere of counseling. Activities of socialization, advocacy, and counseling. Results: The result of the activity shows that the correct value for the answer about post-test extension below 70% there are five questions from total 16 questions. The result of paired T-test to pre and post test value obtained p-value = 0,087 (> 0,05) meaning there is no significant difference between value before and after counseling. Conclusion: This activity showed the story of university collaboration with local residents in the prevention of dengue fever. This one-day training program, supported by neighborhood and hamlet administration, served as good momentum to encourage community participation in public health. This activity is expected to continue to cover wider community groups.
